Overview

A faster, more reliable alternative to DIY treatments

Warts and verrucas are benign skin growths caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). While they are harmless, they can be persistent, uncomfortable, particularly verrucas on the soles of the feet, and can spread to other areas of the body or to other people.

Over-the-counter treatments such as salicylic acid can take months to work and are often ineffective on their own. At Radiant Health Clinic, warts and verrucas are treated professionally using electrocautery, a technique that uses a controlled electrical current to precisely destroy the affected tissue. This delivers significantly faster and more reliable results than self-administered treatments.

  • Significantly faster results than over-the-counter treatments
  • Clinically administered for precision and safety
  • Treats stubborn or long-standing warts and verrucas
  • Multiple lesions can be treated in a single session
  • Minimal discomfort with local anaesthetic applied
  • Suitable for hands, feet, and body

Your safety

Suitability & aftercare

A medical treatment, delivered to medical standards. Here’s who it suits, and how to care for your skin afterwards.

Is it right for you?

Adults with warts or verrucas that have not responded adequately to over-the-counter treatments, or those who want a faster, more reliable removal option.

Please tell us at consultation

Not suitable over actively infected lesions. Patients with pacemakers should inform their practitioner before electrocautery treatment. Warts and verrucas should be assessed before treatment. Some lesions may require dermatology referral if there is any diagnostic uncertainty. A full medical assessment is carried out at your consultation.

Caring for your results

Keep the treated area clean and dry for the first 24–48 hours
Do not pick or scratch the scab, allow it to fall away naturally
Avoid soaking the treated area (baths, swimming) until fully healed
Apply any prescribed aftercare products as directed
Contact us if you notice signs of infection (increasing redness, warmth, or discharge)

Common questions

Common questions

How is this different from over-the-counter treatments?

Over-the-counter treatments like salicylic acid work slowly and require consistent application over many weeks. Professional electrocautery destroys the lesion tissue directly in a single session, delivering faster and more reliable results.

Is the treatment painful?

Local anaesthetic is administered before treatment, so discomfort during the procedure is minimal. The area may be tender for a few days afterwards.

How long does it take to heal?

The treated area will scab and heal over 1–2 weeks. The scab should be left to fall away naturally.

Can multiple warts be treated at the same time?

Yes. Multiple lesions can be treated in a single session, which is more efficient than repeat visits.

Will the wart come back?

Electrocautery destroys the lesion effectively. However, as warts and verrucas are caused by a virus (HPV), new ones can potentially develop elsewhere. Good hygiene helps reduce the risk of spread.
