Overview
Collagen-stimulating results that build naturally
Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) is a biocompatible, biodegradable injectable that works as a collagen stimulator rather than a traditional filler. Rather than immediately adding volume, PLLA works gradually over several weeks and months to stimulate your body’s own collagen production, resulting in a natural, progressive improvement in volume, skin thickness, and firmness.
At Radiant Health Clinic, we offer two leading PLLA products: Aesplla and Sculptra. Both work on the same principle but have slightly different formulations, and your practitioner will advise on the most appropriate choice for your goals and anatomy.
PLLA is particularly well suited to patients who want natural, long-lasting results that don’t look “done”. The gradual nature of the treatment means results develop subtly and authentically.
- Stimulates your own collagen, natural-looking, gradual results
- Restores facial volume lost through ageing
- Improves skin thickness and firmness
- Long-lasting results, up to 2 years
- Biodegradable and biocompatible, fully broken down by the body
- Ideal for subtle, progressive rejuvenation

Common questions
Common questions
How is PLLA different from dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers provide immediate volume by physically filling an area. PLLA works differently. It stimulates your body to produce its own collagen over several weeks and months. The results are more gradual and natural-looking, and can last significantly longer (up to 2 years).
When will I see results?
PLLA works gradually. You may notice an improvement from around 4–6 weeks after your first session, with results continuing to build over the following months as collagen is stimulated.
What is the difference between Aesplla and Sculptra?
Both are PLLA collagen stimulators that work on the same principle. They have slightly different formulations and may be recommended for different patients or treatment areas. Your practitioner will advise on the most appropriate choice at consultation.
Do I need to massage after treatment?
Yes, massage is an important part of the aftercare for PLLA treatments. You will be asked to massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days after each session to help distribute the product evenly.
How long do results last?
Results from a full course of PLLA treatment can last up to 2 years, making it one of the longest-lasting injectable treatments available.
