Overview

A natural approach to pain, stress and wellbeing

Acupuncture is a therapeutic technique that involves inserting very fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate the body’s natural healing response. It is used to treat a wide range of conditions, from chronic pain and musculoskeletal problems to stress, anxiety, and hormonal imbalances.

At Radiant Health Clinic, acupuncture is provided by Advanced Nurse Practitioners with specialist training in both traditional acupuncture and Western medical acupuncture (dry needling). Treatment is tailored to your individual needs following a thorough consultation.

Acupuncture is widely supported by clinical evidence and is endorsed by NICE for specific indications including chronic pain and tension-type headaches.

  • Effective for chronic pain, musculoskeletal conditions, and headaches
  • Reduces stress, anxiety, and supports mental wellbeing
  • Supports hormonal balance and menstrual health
  • Improves sleep quality
  • No medication, just a natural therapeutic approach
  • Tailored to your individual needs and health goals

Common questions

Common questions

Does acupuncture hurt?

The needles are extremely fine, much thinner than injection needles. Most patients feel little more than a mild dull ache or tingling, which quickly passes. Many find the experience deeply relaxing.

How many sessions will I need?

We recommend an initial course of 6 sessions for most conditions. Some patients benefit from ongoing monthly maintenance.

What conditions can acupuncture treat?

Acupuncture has the strongest evidence for chronic pain, headaches and migraines, musculoskeletal problems, and stress-related conditions.

Is medical acupuncture the same as traditional acupuncture?

Both use acupuncture needles but with different frameworks. Our practitioners are trained in both approaches and use whichever is most clinically appropriate.

Is acupuncture safe?

Yes. When performed by a trained practitioner using sterile, single-use needles, acupuncture is very safe.
